Bologna

Bologna is the cultural, administrative and trading capital of Emilia-Romagna, and one of the most productive and dynamic areas in Europe.

Owing to its enviable geographical position, Bologna is:

Four motorways and five railway lines meet in Bologna, providing easy and swift access to major destinations all over the country. Given the vital importance of Bologna’s infrastructure, enhancement programmes will be implemented over the next few years, including the completion of the High-Speed / High-Capacity Railway (TAV).

A large recently enlarged international airport - the Guglielmo Marconi Airport - is just minutes from the city centre connects Bologna with over 100 international destinations.

A large volumes of trade to and from Europe transit through Bologna. Given its position at the crossroads of major trade routes between Central-Northern Europe and Italy, and between the different parts of the Italian peninsula, Bologna is home to one the largest intermodal platforms in Europe, the Bologna's Freight Village, and is due to become a transit-point for the trans-European intermodal corridor 1 (TEN-T).
