People Mover
The Official Journal of the European Union has published the invitation to tender for the project financing of the new monorail link
Interested organisations must submit their proposals for the planning, construction and running of the People Mover by 10 am on December 10. The Municipality of Bologna’s call for tenders for the project financing of the raised monorail link between the G. Marconi airport and the Central Station, with a single stop in Bertalia-Lazzaretto, has been published in the Official Journal of the European Union. The total investment is of 89.5 million euros: 42 million for construction, 38.5 million for rolling stock, 850 thousand for safety measures, 2.4 million for putting it into service, 7.35 million for compulsory purchasing expenses and over 1.1 million for technical expenses.
The Emilia-Romagna regional administration will contribute 27 million euros, and SAB, the company responsible for the management of the airport, 3.5 million. The lease is for 35 years. A yearly compensation of 1.5 million euros in the event that the minimum number of passengers required (to be specified by the tendering company in its proposal) is not reached has also been allocated. However, if the total yearly number of passengers exceeds 1.7 million, 25% of the profits will be paid to the Municipality of Bologna.

Metropolitan Tramway
The n.1 metropolitan tramway will connect the outskirts of the city with the centre, with stops at key commercial, administration and business locations. The stops will include: Fair, Central Station, regional administration offices and Maggiore hospital, totalling almost 12 km, 6.5 of which through tunnels.
The tender for the planning and execution of the project is soon to be published.

Bologna's New Central Station
The tender for the architectural design closed in September 2007. Out of 52 bids, 30 were from abroad. The jury nominated by FS, in agreement with professional associations, the Emilia-Romagna Regional Council and local bodies, including important exponents from institutions and international architecture such as Gae Aulenti, Pio Baldi, Richard Burdett, Christian de Portzamparc, Giovanni Multari, Roberto Brandi and Carlo De Vito, has already selected the twelve finalists for the preliminary design of the new integrated complex within the sphere of Bologna Central. The projects will be submitted by March and the winner will be selected in April 2008.
