ECONOMIC NEWS FROM BOLOGNA

Employment, Bologna first in Italy

In the administrative centre 72% of the people in between 15 and 64 years old are employed.

Bologna in 2008 stepped on the first place of the podium due to the employment rate. The administrative centre, with its 72% of employed people included in an age bracket in between 15 and 64, is the first Italian province. Data per region and per province, based on the 2008 average, of the labour forces have been issued by Istat (Italian equivalent of the Office for National Statistics) and underline how the fork compared with the national average (58,7% average employment rate in 2008 in between 15 and 64, with a slight growth of 0,1% compared with 2007) remains very ample. If, indeed, in Bologna almost three fourth of the considered people in our age bracket are working, only one third do in Crotone.

At a regional level, 2007 classification of the first 5 regions with the highest employment rate, remained unvaried: Emilia-Romagna, Trentino, Valle d'Aosta, Lombardia and Veneto.

Good performance also for women’s employment. In fact in Emilia-Romagna over 6 women out of 10 work, while in Campania average lowers at less than 1 out of 3. And if you consider provinces, you will discover that Bologna is the city with the highest percentage of employed women (66,6% while for men the most active city is Reggio Emilia with 82,8%). The province with the lowest unemployment rate is Piacenza (1,9%), followed by Bologna (2,2%), while the highest is owned by Palermo (17,2%).
