
An increase of over 300 thousand passengers since the beginning of the year (+9.3%)
The growth of Bologna Airport continues: the number of passengers rose 20.1% in September compared to the same month in 2008, reaching a total of 472,515 passengers. There was very significant (+33.4%) growth in domestic passengers (147,957), as well as a relevant increase (+14.9%) in the number of international passengers (324,558).
As regards the breakdown per type of carrier, passengers on scheduled flights numbered 273,687, those on low cost flights 138,665, and those on charter flights 55,292 (these were also joined by 4,871 passengers in transit). There were 5,620 movements, rising 10.8%.
The destinations which recorded the biggest increase in traffic in September were: Catania (which is also the destination with most passengers overall), Bari, Madrid, Lamezia, Naples and Dublin.
With reference to the progressive annual trend, during the first nine months of 2009, the number of passengers reached 3,645,150, rising 9.3% compared to the same period in 2008, corresponding to an increase of 310,073 passengers. International passengers numbered 2,558,830 (+8.7%), while domestic passengers numbered 1,086,320 (+10.6%). The total number of movements has risen 2.3% to 45,376.
