Building works by Valdadige Costruzioni with the architects Zucchi and Jaspert
Valdadige Costruzioni has unveiled the "Trilogia Navile", the urban planning project for the revamped Bolognina which forms part of the general restyling of the fruit and vegetable market in via Fioravanti and the surrounding area. The project was developed by the architects Cino Zucchi, of the Milan-based firm of the same name, and Frederik Jaspert, of JSWD Arkitekten in Cologne, winners in June of the competition organised by Valdadige Costruzioni, who purchased the areas one year ago from Carisbo for 90 million euros.
Work is due to commence in the early months of 2009: the old buildings have already been demolished and 600 new units of various types, featuring internal courtyards and towers and including shops and offices, will be ready by Spring 2011. The name "Trilogia Navile" comes from the three types of unit on offer: homes, shops and offices. More specifically, two thirds of the new units, for a total of around 40 thousand square metres, will be residential. Navile 1 and 2, each of which occupies two plots of land, are to be developed by the Milanese firm, and will become residential and commercial respectively, whereas Navile 3, the German firm, will be dedicated to offices. The project will cost 250 million and will reshape 47% of the overall 128 thousand sqm. The remaining area is municipal property and will be dedicated to public use. There are plans for a hostel, halls for 240 students, a day nursery and elementary school and a medical facility. Common themes running through the project are environmental sustainability and energy saving.
