Italy's first cultural events festival opens its doors
Between 6 and 9 November, the first edition of the Festival of Festivals, dedicated to the lively world of cultural events, is to be held in the Palazzo Re Enzo in Bologna. The sector has been undergoing radical change and the figures show a growing potential as well as unprecedented public and media attention.
Organisers, marketing and sponsoring organisations, businesses, cultural associations, professionals, educators and students will have the opportunity to meet and exchange experiences, share strategies, identify objectives and plan the development of what the Festival of Festivals has defined, for the first times, as the "Cultural Events Sector".
"The need which gave rise to this event - explains Andrea Romeo, FoF general manager -was to provide a link between professionals operating in the various cultural arenas - cinema, music, culture, theatre and science - offering opportunities for exchange and sharing in an environment such as events which is continually evolving and whose growth is entirely counter-current."
The outlook for Italy is one of constant evolution: over 880 festivals, 8,000 professionals, more than 400 million euros of direct investment and an audience of around 10,000,000 indicate a rapidly growing sector with its own inner laws and economy, which sector operators are beginning to feel requires analysis, promotion and coordinated action.
The decision to organise a single event for operators from all related fields stems from the awareness of increasing cross-fertilisation between audiences and languages of the different fields. The festival offers conferences, workshops and round-table closed-door meetings between professionals, as well as public events and shows for cultural events aficionados, of which there have always been many in Bologna.
